Our Cabins in Colorado's Beautiful Outdoors

Our log cabins have fully equipped kitchens and full bath. Each cabin has it's own fire pit, picnic table and barbeque grill outside; linens are also furnished. Some have fireplaces. Views of Mount Sopris and the Crystal River are common in the cabin area of the resort.

River Rafting and Kayaking Whitewater Rafting Colorado River running is exhilarating and great fun for the whole family. During Summer Season the Colorado River and Roaring Fork River are very popular so advance reservations are recommended. Fishing

Mountain lakes and rivers are usually well-stocked with Rainbow Trout. Crystal River Fishing From right here at the Crystal River Resort Cabins and Campground where the fishing in the Crystal River is great (especially in Summer Season), to rivers and lakes in every direction, one finds some of the best trout fishing rivers in the state. The Frying Pan (one of the best known and most popular fishing rivers in the United States), Roaring Fork, Crystal and Colorado Rivers are well stocked with Rainbow trout. But Brookies, Brown Trout and other species are also taken regularly. Reudi Reservoir on the Frying Pan River and Beaver Lake (about a ½ hour drive south from Crystal River Resort Cabins & Campground) are also popular lakes for fishing.

Four Wheeling and Jeep Tours

Four Wheeling 4 wheeling above Marble near headwaters of Crystal River 4-Wheeling and Jeep Touring - Several roads in the White River National Forest are designated for 4 - wheeling. Call the Ranger at 970-925-3445 to find them. Something that's really fun is to arrange for a 4 x 4 Tour with Crystal River 4 x 4 Tours in Marble, Colorado (only about ½ hour south of Crystal River Resort Cabins & Campground). They have a Crystal Mill Tour which takes you to the Crystal Mill, probably (other than for the Maroon Bells) the most prized photo opportunity in the State of Colorado. Other tours go to Lead King Basin and the Marble Quarry, where marble for the Tomb of the Unknowns and Lincoln Memorial and many other government buildings was quarried. Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking Mountain Bikers take a break near headwaters of Crystal River Recreational and Competitive Mountain Biking - During Summer Season, mountain bike downhill racing is scheduled at local ski areas such as Snowmass. The courses are set up so that the competitors ride the ski lifts with their bikes and then come down the course marked by poles and flags much the same as a downhill ski race. It's not a sport for the timid and mountain bike racers crash just about as often and as badly as do downhill ski racers. Schedules are available at most of the areas. One of the most popular activities in our area is just plane biking, whether it's a mountain bike, touring or road bike, there are plenty of bikers and plenty of places to rent and ride them. Check with Ajax Bike Rental at 410 Main, Carbondale. Phone: 970-963-0128. One of the most popular bike touring areas is the 15 mile bike trail in Glenwood Canyon. When the road in this beautiful canyon was improved, they designed the trail right along with it. Much of the trail follows right along the river. Hunting

Hunting Big Game - Elk, Mule Deer, Small Game. Crystal River Resort is located in area 43, which is right in the middle of areas 42, 421, 47, and 521. Check with the following for information:

Hiking, Mountain Climbing And Wilderness Trekking

The Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness Area is less than 2 miles from Crystal River Resort. Access to the Wilderness from our side is five miles south of our Resort on Scenic Byway 133. If you're on your way to the trailhead from the Resort, turn left (south) on Highway 133, travel approximately 5 miles, then turn left onto Avalanche Creek Road. The trailhead is about 3 miles up this road. What a great idea to make Crystal River Resort your base of operations for a wilderness trek.
